A Tasty Treat?

Don't these coconut raspberry tarts look Delicious? Okay, I know I can't fool you! We made these Fires Starters the other night. We actually had everything on hand.... so it was free (ha ha). Oh sooo Frugal (it's frugal friday ya know)! We used: Gulf wax and old candles of varying scents Lightered pine shaving from our big tree (that partially fell on our car a couple years back) Garden twine Muffin papers from the thrift store Muffin tins (preferably old ones) While Superman cut wood the girls and I set to work. We packed the shavings into the muffin papers and added the twine wick between the layers. Then I poured on the melted wax. I'm sure they'll be good enough for me to get a fire started! Superman doesn't need them...he's a Super Hero remember! Here's one of our chicks loading logs. And another stacking. I know it's crazy for where we live, but we do get many nights in the low 40's to upper 30's and having a fireplace makes it oh s

Sweet Taters!

Look at the size of this sweet potato!!! (Don't look at me, I needed a nap). I got about half way through the peeling process when Superman asked if I gotten a pic. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that HE was the one who dug it up. This is what we made from it. Notice in the above picture that Superman got out the fire extinguisher! What is he trying to say? Then the chicks wanted to make fries. We were all craving a bit of salt and fried food. I think it's been over a month and a half since we've been to Chick - fil - a. It was all so tasty. We have more taters so I think we'll have a sticky chicken and sweet tater dinner this week. Then I'll put the fryer away for another 2 years! On the same day . Many of us were in the kitchen when Hawk Nelson (our neighborhood hawk) started zooming in a flying sort of way around our oak tree. Then we saw the fuzzy little squirrel he was hoping to have for Sunday brunch. It was amazing to watch the drama play out. My

Tempted to Stay Up!

Oh! I have two new things to post about and I want to... but it's getting late and I'm trying to stay on a schedule.... I'll be back tomorow with something tasty and orange! Ps. The apples were fakies....But the 4-H sale is for real.

4-H and Sausage?

Well, today we go and set up our 4-H gardens. No One is excited about it being 92 degrees... I'm so glad our home garden is ready to go! We just need to get those temps back down into the mid 80's. Yes, I mean no I haven't posted picks yet. I wanted to do it one post. Maybe I should split it up? What do you think??? I have started some seeds inside to get a jump on it. We should be Harvesting at the end of December ( like there won't be enough to do)! Back to 4-H! My oldest check has been working very hard on the website for our club and plans to publish it today or tomorrow, once she gets the okay. I'll pop up the site once it's official! Our local 4-H is also selling bushels of apples and pecans! This how we Floridians get our apples every year. Oh, I long to taste fall.... the apples are so crisp and juicy. Check your local 4-H to see if they have any sort of yummy fundraisers. It's a tasteful (I couldn't resist) way to help out! 4 Sweet Sisters w

P.O.O.P.I.E

People Opposing Objectionable Pretend plants in the Environment ! Okay folks it's been a week....which is way too long. Schooling 3 1/2 is a bit daunting at times. My other excuse.....I've been freaking out about lice for over a week. No, I didn't have it (this time around), but I've scratched myself raw over it! On to P.O.O.P.I.E.! Over at Nestor's she's done a short series on what's a good fake and what's not ( errr flowers that is). So after you take a peak at mine head over there and read hers and everyone else' poop (can I say that?), I mean blogs! Nesting Place is in my side bar if you need directions ( I wanted to put the button up, but have no clue). These are my year round fakies .... Superman gave me the floral arrangement about 12 years ago when we couldn't afford flowers, who am I kidding....we still can't! I did change out the pedestal urn they came in. My wonderful ivy on top of the cabinets. My chicks have always ha

Sing Praises All Servants!

I've been meaning to share this for awhile... Every year I pray and ask the Lord to show me where we need to strengthen. I've been trying for years....I mean YEARS to have a regular praise and worship time with Bible. Not just learning Bible history, but a topical study, personal prayer and music... Well so far so good. We've been starting our days with a great hymn sing along. It comes with a book and Cd's with all the parts played separately and together. Can I just say, I don't know what ever made me think I could be a music teacher and vocal major! We (meaning myself and brood) sound like a bunch of a cackling hens being pulled through chicken wire by a raccoon ! We start out fine and then go higher and higher. We crack each other up! I hope were aren't offensive....He knows our hearts, but sometimes we're BAD (and I don't mean good). The title is: Home Discipleship Hymnbook . After that we pray with the Little's and read a scripture with a
