Fall

Last night after dinner we did a little decorating. I've really pared down my fall decorations. I like it so much better with just little hints of it. Like I said yesterday, it's 91 degrees again today. The house feels so much cooler for some reason. I can't believe having a couple of decorations could change my attitude so much. This doesn't mean I'll be decorating for Christmas in July, but it is something to think about. Last night I even watched a couple of British shows with a blanket on. I'm pretty sure Superman thinks of lost it (how often do I say that?)!

So here are a couple pictures of what has brightened our day. Superman and Angela( Dancing with my Father) don't look! You'll be aghast at my photography skills.


I got a lot of these pumpkins in different hues at the Dollar Store last year. What a deal. I will change them out for a cute collection of Pilgrims and Indians (also $ store finds from a couple of years ago) when November rolls around.


My dried baby corn ( I need some new ones) and a picture of one of the chickadees (they all looked the same).

In the next week or so I'll be transforming our front porch. I'm not sure what I 'm doing yet. I threw out our dilapidated scarecrows. Maybe I'll try my hand at making my own. Or Superman's hand.

Nestor's Party- My Craft Room!

Well I wanted to get these up because Nestor is having a 10 minute to a beautiful room party . This has definitely taken more than 10 minutes. But in my brain it was only suppose to take a day! It's far from finished, but that's what a craft room is for. Right? Here's a couple of before pics during the Children's Christmas play. Nitrate Free Pepperoni

I'm not sure if I should show you the picture or not. I tweaked a recipe from Tammy's Recipes and it is quite tasty. BUT (and it's kind of a big BUT) the color is just not right. So the pepperoni looks a little grey (gross) but again taste SUPER! So here goes nothing.... nitrate free pepperoni See how gray it looks? That's because I used Real Salt (sea salt) instead of curring salts which have all the nitrates and fake pink color (they do this so people won't mistake it for table salt). That pink dye also gives sausages of all types that nice color we are all so used too. All the flavor was still in there and I figured if I'm making this homemade I want it to be as healthy as possible for my family. So why would I add the nitrates? Because I didn't use the pink salt I can't just leave this out in my pantry like you could with some of the store bought stuff. Zeee Transformation!

It's Frugal Friday again! I really enjoy everyone's offerings. Please share your comments and head over to Biblicalwomanhood.com for more great tips. We finished just in time for our littlest chickadee's birthday and for use while I'm schooling the rest of the brood. Here's what I found at a local thrift store.... The stove had a sad laminate door on it that someone else had used to repair it. I sanded down both the fridge and stove. I also traced the stove top. Then Superman took over. He did more sanding, replaced the door with scrap wood and cut out a window. So that she can see what's baking. After that it was time to paint!
