Double Whammy

Today is a double whammy. I wanted to show you how wonderfully yummy School Girl's bread turned and it's Works For Me Wednesday over at We Are That Family. My thought is: they learn to make it and I don't have too!

Fresh ground whole wheat flour. As simple as flipping a switch!

See how easy.

Preparing the yeast.

Milk makes for a tender crumb.

Honey and Olive Oil

A lot of flour.

Mom's inspection.

A little dough.

Wah La! Beautiful girl and delicious bread.

She made 2 loaves of sandwich bread, 1 loaf of cinnamon raisin and a batch of french boule.

WFMW Aprons! I use camp dry spray to repel liquids and messes.

Just spray it on a new or clean apron and hang outside to dry for a day or two.

Helps keep aprons looking great much longer!

So get some new cute aprons and keep your cute clothes drom getting ruined!

Do you wear aprons and how often?

Wow those aprons are awesome!
Great job School Girl! The cinn raisen looks delicious. I might have to make some later :)

Oh, and I only wear an apron when I'm baking. I really should wear it while cooking because I seem to always get food on myself. Maybe if I had a cute one :)

Love the bread and the aprons! I wear one a lot of the time, but not always. If I think of it or am already deep in thought... But, my aprons are special--my grandmother and mother made them, maybe 1950's? with calico print fabric and rick rack (that zig zaggy stuff) all over the edges. Cute. Kerry

Fantastic lessons--it's so important for young women to know how to cook (whether they marry or not).
I love the aprons-we always wear aprons in our house.
Your girls are all beautiful and look just like their mom!

Nestor's Party- My Craft Room!

Well I wanted to get these up because Nestor is having a 10 minute to a beautiful room party . This has definitely taken more than 10 minutes. But in my brain it was only suppose to take a day! It's far from finished, but that's what a craft room is for. Right? Here's a couple of before pics during the Children's Christmas play. Basically every surface was covered and I had to move stuff just to work. Five of us craft, sew, scrapbook etc in this room. So space and good storage is an issue. The room is apx.10x11. I really want my daughter's to grow up being Keeper's of their Homes. Home Decorating and Crafting Frugally is a must! You can have a beautiful home on a very tight budget. I also want them to be creative and have a place to show and explore their abilities. ( alrighty let me jump down from my horse; ) Here's some after photos. The paint was from the $5 bin and too yellow. So I added alot of white that we had from another project! Th...

Zeee Transformation!

It's Frugal Friday again! I really enjoy everyone's offerings. Please share your comments and head over to Biblicalwomanhood.com for more great tips. I have it listed in Friends and Interest for your convienece. Have a great weekend and enjoy! I've been anxious to get these up here! This was one of Superman's and my summer projects. We finished just in time for our littlest chickadee's birthday and for use while I'm schooling the rest of the brood. Here's what I found at a local thrift store.... The stove had a sad laminate door on it that someone else had used to repair it. I sanded down both the fridge and stove. I also traced the stove top. Then Superman took over. He did more sanding, replaced the door with scrap wood and cut out a window. So that she can see what's baking. After that it was time to paint! I really wanted red because (for now) it's in my kitchen and it looks great with the other colors in there. Quite Spicy! And I found it in th...

Nitrate Free Pepperoni

I'm not sure if I should show you the picture or not. I tweaked a recipe from Tammy's Recipes and it is quite tasty. BUT (and it's kind of a big BUT) the color is just not right. So the pepperoni looks a little grey (gross) but again taste SUPER! So here goes nothing.... nitrate free pepperoni See how gray it looks? That's because I used Real Salt (sea salt) instead of curring salts which have all the nitrates and fake pink color (they do this so people won't mistake it for table salt). That pink dye also gives sausages of all types that nice color we are all so used too. All the flavor was still in there and I figured if I'm making this homemade I want it to be as healthy as possible for my family. So why would I add the nitrates? Because I didn't use the pink salt I can't just leave this out in my pantry like you could with some of the store bought stuff. If you do to try this recipe and decide to go "all natural" please make sure that you ...
