Frugal Friday
Look what I made for 55 cents! That's right!! My first sock monkey....Lucy. Monica at the Home Spun Heart had the craft up about a month ago, and I vowed to make my chicks some for Christmas. You can go to http://www.craftbits.com/ and look up this cute monkey. But you would probably do better heading over to the Home Spun Heart (in my side bar) and perusing her craft category.
Okay so here's what you'll need:
1 long pair of cute socks (these are child's size so the body is a bit smaller and the legs are longer)
thread
good scissors
sewing machine (you could hand sew the whole thing)
2 buttons for eyes
cotton batting
I had everything left over from previous projects, so all I needed where some cute socks. I got 2 pairs for a $1.04 at Target. It took about 2 hours for my first one. Using the smaller socks is a bit more tricky, but I know I'll pick up speed as I continue on with the rest of the family!
Another tidbit I'd like to bring up is how grateful I am that we have an Emergency Fund. We've had some major dental bills this year. Far more than ever expected and it has been a great to pay them in cash. We even got a $100 off from the dental office to lessen the blow! Praise the Lord. So our EF has been depleted 4 times in the past 8 months. So on to rebuilding and getting rid of any debt!

Oh this is adorable.. My almost 1 year old daughter would love it. hmmm I can't sew..but maybe I could try? lol

Nestor's Party- My Craft Room!

Well I wanted to get these up because Nestor is having a 10 minute to a beautiful room party . This has definitely taken more than 10 minutes. But in my brain it was only suppose to take a day! It's far from finished, but that's what a craft room is for. Right? Here's a couple of before pics during the Children's Christmas play. Nitrate Free Pepperoni

I'm not sure if I should show you the picture or not. I tweaked a recipe from Tammy's Recipes and it is quite tasty. BUT (and it's kind of a big BUT) the color is just not right. So the pepperoni looks a little grey (gross) but again taste SUPER! So here goes nothing.... nitrate free pepperoni See how gray it looks? That's because I used Real Salt (sea salt) instead of curring salts which have all the nitrates and fake pink color (they do this so people won't mistake it for table salt). That pink dye also gives sausages of all types that nice color we are all so used too. All the flavor was still in there and I figured if I'm making this homemade I want it to be as healthy as possible for my family. So why would I add the nitrates? Because I didn't use the pink salt I can't just leave this out in my pantry like you could with some of the store bought stuff. Zeee Transformation!

It's Frugal Friday again! I really enjoy everyone's offerings. Please share your comments and head over to Biblicalwomanhood.com for more great tips. I have it listed in Friends and Interest for your convienece. Have a great weekend and enjoy! I've been anxious to get these up here! This was one of Superman's and my summer projects. We finished just in time for our littlest chickadee's birthday and for use while I'm schooling the rest of the brood. Here's what I found at a local thrift store.... The stove had a sad laminate door on it that someone else had used to repair it. I sanded down both the fridge and stove. I also traced the stove top. Then Superman took over. He did more sanding, replaced the door with scrap wood and cut out a window. So that she can see what's baking. After that it was time to paint!
