Zeee Transformation!

I've been anxious to get these up here! This was one of Superman's and my summer projects. We finished just in time for our littlest chickadee's birthday and for use while I'm schooling the rest of the brood.
Here's what I found at a local thrift store....




The stove had a sad laminate door on it that someone else had used to repair it. I sanded down both the fridge and stove. I also traced the stove top. Then Superman took over. He did more sanding, replaced the door with scrap wood and cut out a window. So that she can see what's baking.
After that it was time to paint! I really wanted red because (for now) it's in my kitchen and it looks great with the other colors in there. Quite Spicy! And I found it in the oops bin for $5 a gallon - Yippee!!!



The one door has a bit of wonkiness that we think gives it character! We purchased new matching handles @ $1.27 a piece.



We cleaned up the original knobs and spray painted the hinges ( because a. we couldn't find any that matched, b. it was going to cost more moola and trouble to replace the). We also put a black chain inside to keep it from hanging to low.



See the wonderful job Superman did with the plexi-glass window? We had some laying around. It totally makes it! I want a oven like that!!



I painted the inside white to clean it up and used my drawings from before to transfer the old design back on. I really like the way it looks.



The little chick was so surprised! She started cooking immediately. She's had MANY fires in her oven and needed baking soda to put them out!

Everyday, "Oh, there's a fire in the oven!"

Here's the chef. Mac'n'cheese anyone? It's 6:30 a.m.!

This project took about 2 weeks (working an hour or so a night) and $30 (total, including the stove and fridge) to complete. The night before her birthday we brought it upstairs. Superman was putting the fridge doors on and realized I had painted the wrong sides!!! I felt sick... but he was able to take care of my oops within about an hour. He's so good!!!

I absolutely love it! You guys did a wonderful job restoring these pieces!!!! The old woood kitchen brings back many childhood memories. Thanks for sharing.

You did a wonderful job sprucing up the appliances. And isn't your little chef the sweetest thing? I love that she already knows to put out fires with baking soda. Safety first!

The restoration that you did on this playset is really good. I like it a lot, and it reminds me of my childhood so much. (Those were the days.) Plus, I love the color red. I can only imagine all of the fun your daughters are having with their new kitchen set.

Every Last Drop!

So you love Essential Oils and you are using them on all the things; now, what do you do with all the cute little amber bottles? With the Young Living bottles you can an easily peel off the labels and refill with  your own personal blends, pop a spray top on for a spray blend, use as bud vase for a single flower or fill with Thieves Cleaner and gift to a friend who has never heard of the power of Thieves!  When my bottles are almost empty and I cannot get a drop out (even with the reducer cap off), I like to place a bunch up in the bottom of a big jar of Epsom salts. I let them sit for a week or so but there are times when I'll start using the salts right away. I just refill the salts on the top while the bottom of the container marinates. The fragrance is heavenly. You could get really fancy and save all your "fall" scents together, all your citrus scents etc. I am not that organized... Facial Cleanser

We've been using a surprisingly wonderful face wash for about 6 months. Guess What it is? Olive & Castor Oil! I was really surprised at how well it works and you can customize the formula to you own needs. For people with T-zone, dry or oily conditions. At www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/ they give all the details. I used an old facial cleanser bottle and tweaked the instructions to fit our needs. -15% Castor oil -85% olive oil -Shake and place in shower with wash cloth. - Gently rub 1 to 2 pumpfuls into face, neck, ears etc. (before you get in) -Use the warmth of shower to open pores. -Heat wash cloth with water, place on face for a minute or so. Then gently rub off excess oil, make up and dirt. Like I said, we've been using this for 6 months or so. In that time I've had only 1 blemish ( I'm a t-zone). My face is so much smoother and softer and this is all I do. No more 3 parts, no extra lotions! The above recipe has worked well for dry and t-zone. So we only h...
